Custom Finishes for Your 70mm Lock Cylinder
The quality of a 70mm European-style double-cylinder lock depends largely on its finish. The finish shown in the image is a standard option—one of the regular styles produced at our factory. However, if you require a different finish, we can adjust our processes to meet your specifications.
You may not be familiar with the intricacies of manufacturing brass lock cylinders, but a single brass component can be finished in a wide variety of ways—such as brushed brass, polished brass, or antique bronze. From brushing to plating, and from glossy to matte, each finish involves a specific treatment process. It is a common misconception that a product is simply “finished” by applying a random layer of color after manufacturing; in reality, the process is far more involved.
What matters most is the standard you desire, and JW-LOCK is fully committed to meeting that requirement.

Key By Style
Each lock cylinder comes with three basic keys. You can choose a computer key, a high-end double-slot key, or an ordinary key.

A key is required to operate the lock cylinder from both sides.

Understand Double Lock Cylinder Structures & Shop with Confidence
What gives a reliable lock cylinder its resistance to impact? By dismantling a double-sided lock cylinder and examining its individual components, you will gain a better understanding of the mechanism.When purchasing lock cylinders in large quantities, you will come to appreciate exactly what justifies their price.
The Key of Structures:
- Cylinder Cam:The key allows the cam to rotate, and when the cam turns, it drives the latch on the lock body to extend or retract, thereby opening or closing the door.
- Lock Cylinder Body:The external lock case needs to be coated with a chemical layer to jointly protect the internal pins.
- Lock Cylinder Pin:The lock cylinder is equipped with a row of pins. With the matching keys, the pins can be pushed to the correct height line, thus completing the unlocking process.
- Key and Keyhole:The lock cylinder has two keyholes on either side, and they have the same key slot shape and pin height.

Practical Applications of Door Lock Cylinder
The actual application of double-sided lock cylinder is very extensive. It is used with mortise lock body, and it is universal for both exterior doors and interior doors. When the European double-sided lock cylinder is inserted into the lock body door, both sides of the European lock can be rotated with the key, which is very convenient.
Its surface is processed by nickel brushing, polishing and other processing methods, making the surface of the lock cylinder more wear-resistant and glossy. Therefore, trust JW-LOCK’ vision to make your commercial projects more extensive.

Drawing for Double Lock Cylinder:

Gently turning the door handle retracts or extends the latch of the mortise lock; when the door is closed, the extended latch prevents it from opening.
When operating the lock using the cylinder with keys, the key drives the deadbolt of the mortise lock body to extend or retract; the fully extended deadbolt (projecting two turns) ensures home security, and the deadbolt and latch are highly resistant to breakage, even under violent force applied from the outside.

FAQ
A single-open lock cylinder features a thumb-turn on the interior side for locking and unlocking, while requiring a key for operation from the exterior; it is typically used for interior doors and offers a lower level of security.
A double-open lock cylinder with keyholes on both sides, allowing the door to be locked or unlocked with the same key from either the inside or the outside. Consequently, its operation is more complex; it is commonly used for exterior doors and provides a higher level of security compared to single-cylinder locks.
If you are unfamiliar with the process of replacing a lock cylinder, it may take you around 30 minutes; you will need a screwdriver to remove the old cylinder and install the new one, and you must also adjust the position of the cam during installation to ensure the key can properly rotate the cylinder. However, if you are well-versed in the procedure, the task can be completed in just five minutes.
A double-sided lock cylinder requires a key to operate from both sides; such cylinders are resistant to damage from forceful external impacts, a design intended to enhance security.
Measuring the length of a lock cylinder is not difficult if the old one is still in place; you simply need a ruler with millimeter markings.
- First, measure the horizontal distance from the left side to the cam;
- Next, measure the horizontal distance from the cam to the right side;
- Finally, measure the total horizontal distance from the left side to the right side.
The distance from the left end to the cam and from the cam to the right end is not necessarily symmetrical. For instance, with a double-sided lock cylinder having a total length of 70mm, if the left side is 35mm and the right side is also 35mm, the cam is positioned exactly in the center; however, if the left side is 30mm and the right side is 40mm, it is an offset-cam model. Therefore, the cam’s position is not always fixed in the middle; if you measure only the total length, the cylinder you purchase may not fit into your existing door frame.
That is absolutely correct; the design of a double-sided lock cylinder is more complex than that of a single-sided one, and consequently, it offers superior security and anti-theft capabilities.
